Brodmann Blades Glove Type Table Tennis Racket

I wrote before about unique table tennis racket designs, and here is another.

I actually first heard of this through a Japanese table tennis site despite the fact that Brodmann Blades seems to be based in the U.S. This particular table tennis blade has not yet been approved by the ITTF, but they claim that there was a lot of enthusiasm about this new design.

The racket is warn like a glove so there is no handle. Your hand fits in between the two sides of the racket. The manufacturer claims that this provides a better feel for the ball and more control.

Some of the comments I’ve read over in Japan were concerned about reduced power and reach, and the possibility of injuring the hand that’s in the racket if you happen to slash it across the table.

I think it could have some significant uses as a recreational or training device, especially for beginners who might benefit from getting a more direct feel on the ball and the way the ball plays off of the racket.

Here is Brodmann Blades site…

and here is a video of the racket in action.
